To Find the Best Wedding Photography Clients, Learn More About Them

In my last video, I offered advice on how wedding photographers can build referral-generating relationships. In this post, we look at how to find our target customers — the “ideal” brides for your wedding photography business.

  1. Client research is very important. It's amazing that you found such a little niche to attract 'ideal' brides.

  2. Each year, I have a good percentage of brides who are attorneys (that's DC for you).

They don't have much time to waste, so they take vendor referrals from friends and colleagues very seriously.

I started noticing the same florists, coordinators, DJs and videographers at these weddings, and I thought it might be a good idea to organize an event together.

We created a mini-bridal show (a few tables) and sponsored a bar association networking event (a glorified happy-hour). It turned into one their most well-attended networking events of the year, and I'm still benefiting from it.

  3. Wish I could say this info was good for me, but of my favorite brides, everything is all over the place; different type jobs/careers, different pets, different locations, different vendors. Unable to find one similiar thing about any of them.

  4. Genius! Here's my question to you - how did you get all the information you needed from your brides? They probably don't want to spend half an hour filling out a survey, right?

  5. Ask more thoughtful questions in your consultations to get more information on them, pay attention to things they talk about, activities they enjoy, etc... during the months, weeks or even hours you are with them. And, after the wedding, you can always survey them, especially if you offer an incentive to complete the survey for you.

If you want to get my close the sale CD for free, I go over sample questions to ask in your consultation to get some of these answers from the very beginning. Just go to http://www.brideattraction.com, fill out the form to receive your free audio course, then the thank you page will redirect you to sign up for the CD if you want more info on this!

Also, I'd like to say that a lot of people can't see similarities on the surface, but if you dig deeper, there are usually commonalities (even if they aren't so obvious) to tell you where your brides "hang out"!
