Ilford Photo, the UK-based maker of photographic consumables which has remained committed to monochrome films and paper as players like Kodak have left the market, will hold an exhibition next month to showcase 150 years of black-and-white photography -- and to show off its paper in the process. The exhibit, "Pioneers of Photography," runs from April 16-28 at London's HOST Gallery. (Via PhotographyBLOG.)

U.S. photographer Kelly Fajack, whose photo of Burundi schoolchildren mysteriously wound up depicted on the African nation's 10,000 Franc note, has added the country's U.K.-based currency maker to his copyright infringement lawsuit.
The issue has been a challenging one for Fajack, who took the pictures while working for a nonprofit organization and who has been reluctant to force payment from a country where the per-capita GDP is less than $800.

Less than a month after buying WireImage, Getty Images has acquired Scoopt, the U.K.-based citizen journalism service that has tapped into the pervasiveness of camera phones.

Getty will now distribute selected images from Scoopt on its editorial Web site, making these images available to more potential customers...

Thursday at the PGA's Honda Classic, John Daly suffered a shoulder injury and had to drop out of the tournament when a photographer's flash caused him to pull up awkwardly on his backswing.
The disruptive photographer was, in this case, a spectator. But the incident does highlight the ongoing battle between golfers and photographers -- including professionals -- on the PGA tour.

Photographers from the New Orleans Times-Picayune and four other Louisiana newspapers were barred from covering the state girls' high school basketball championship this week because they refused to sign a rights agreement with the Louisiana High School Athletic Association. The Times-Picayune reports:
(The) newspapers ... refused to sign a document limiting the right ... to resell their photos to the public. Many newspapers post expanded galleries of their photographs on their Web sites and offer prints for sale, often to family members.

A new 339-page compilation, Photo by Sammy Davis, Jr., chronicles the legendary entertainer's life with the Rat Pack in the 1950s and '60s. The LA Times reports:
Davis never went anywhere without a camera, and always had the best equipment, but wasn't a stickler for technique. "A lot of the photos are out of focus, but it doesn't even matter," said (editor Burt) Boyar. "What photographer could shoot Frank (Sinatra) in his pajamas?"
