In April 2010 I had my first photography exhibition in November photograph 03 of the mystical SHEKINAH series was chosen for the Master Photography Collection at the Falmouth Art Gallery in Falmouth England.Viewers have written that the pictures are magical, inspirational etc. For this reason I believe the photographs should be kept together and not sold indivisually. I would appreciate your advice.
Sincerely,
Patricia M. Burgin

Dear Black Star Rising,<br

The big step was selling the idea to the Mall management. It has been a steep learning curve and a lot of hard work, most Malls have empty units right now and I am lucky enough to have a big one (1400 sq ft). I will be manning it myself for the whole month of March, but it is going to be a great experience.

Thanks for all that good advice but I have bypassed the galleries (and their commissions), I am hosting my own debut solo exhibition in a local Mall. Although you should be a bit thick as an artist, not everyone is always going to like what you do, and more often then not critique can really sting.
Most of the time we tell our self that its not for them that we produce, and of course that has an element of truth in it, we produce because we have a need to do so.
But that moment that your work is exhibited for the first time you'll be on a confidence high that can last for some time.
I got really lucky the first time, the gallery asked me.

Nice post! I would say that conformation is a really big plus indeed. Any suggestions on how to target and find galleries that would be a good fit with one's work? I'm ready to look beyond my local galleries.

Thanks for a helpful article.
