Using reasonable assumptions it can tell you whether your business has any chance. And if it is an existing business, can point out the ways to fix problems, at least at the macro level.

Break even analysis is an extremely powerful tool that is simple to use. I am used to coming from a business background where such considerations are second nature to many of the people I deal with. Yours is a good reminder to me that not everyone has had the benefit of such instruction. I might advise that any new startup get advise from a highly recommended accountant to help set up the business structure. The added expense will pay for itself by avoiding tax and other accounting pitfalls before they occur and provide a structured recording and reporting environment to begin with. Don't just buy a copy of Quickbooks and think you have it covered!

Well presented.
